Deanna Richeson to lead MI Lodging & Tourism Assn. OKEMOS, Mich. – The Michigan Lodging and Tourism Association (Check In Michigan) has selected Deanna Richeson as its incoming president and chief executive officer.
Known for her collaborative leadership, Richeson joins the association March 28. For the past 20 years, she has played an integral role at the Michigan Economic Development Corporation (MEDC). Most recently, she served as international trade director, leading Michigan’s sales and relationship building efforts. Richeson previously was MEDC’s director for the Centers of Energy Excellence and deputy director for its Defense Center.
A graduate of the University of Texas, Richeson earned her bachelor’s degree in internal economics and is a certified economic development finance professional.
“Deanna is a visionary with demonstrated experience who understands the lodging and tourism industry’s vital role in Michigan,” said Cindy Bowen, Check In Michigan Board vice chair, who led the executive selection committee. “Her extensive track record as an innovative leader made her the perfect choice to lead Check In Michigan.”
Check In Michigan conducted a national executive search following the retirement announcement of Steve Yencich, the association’s current president and CEO.
“Thanks to the collaborative support of so many, our industry has achieved great things over the years,” said Yencich. “Deanna comes to the position fully equipped to build upon that past and to lead Check In Michigan and our industry to even greater heights.”
Richeson resides in Haslett.
Formed in 1905, Check In Michigan represents, markets and educates lodging property and tourism business owners across the state.
